Overview
Geotechnical, Environmental, and Materials Testing for Indoor Sports Facility
Advanced Geotechnical Solutions (AGS) was hired in 2021 to perform geotechnical engineering and subsurface exploration for an 8.13-acre site near the Casper Events Center, which would become home to the new WYO Complex indoor sports facility.
- Subsurface exploration was completed in 2022
- In Spring 2023, AGS was retained again to provide construction materials testing (CMT) as vertical construction began
Upon completion, the 131,000-square-foot facility will include:
- 6 full-size basketball courts (convertible into 12 volleyball courts)
- A large indoor turf field (convertible into 4 more basketball or 8 volleyball courts)
AGS Services
Geotechnical Engineering:
- Subsurface borings and lab testing
- Site suitability evaluation and foundation recommendations
- Environmental site assessment (Phase I ESA)
Construction Materials Testing:
- Field and lab testing for:
- Subgrade soil and structural fill compaction
- Utility backfill and aggregate base
- Asphalt placement
- Structural and civil concrete (field and lab testing)
- Laboratory testing, including:
- Proctor curves
- Sieve analyses
- Plasticity index testing
